CTBC Past-President speaks at the NATO Economic Forum - May 26, 2009

Mr. Richard Ross, CTBC Founding Member & Immediate past-President, Chairman & CEO of Inmet Mining Corporation

Canadian Success Story:
"The Canadian Turkish Business Council:
a model for Canadian Business collaboration with overseas counterparts"

The Atlantic Council of Canada (ACC) held a NATO Economy Forum in Toronto on May 26, 2009 with aim encourage greater economic collaboration between the business communities in Canada and the NATO member and aspirant countries of South-Eastern Europe; Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia. The dynamic and diverse economies of these countries offer a wide range of investment and business prospects for Canadian companies. The forum brought together leading Canadian business leaders and government officials to discuss current economic, trade, technology and investments potential in these countries. It also encouraged Canadian businesses from all sectors to attend the conference and meet high-level representatives from these countries.

The Canadian Turkish Business Council was demonstrated as a Canadian Success Story; a model for other countries to learn how they can benefit from forming Business Councils of their own. Mr. Ross is a wonderful public speaker, he delivered a very informative presentation about his personal background; the roles and benefits of a business council as a whole; who is Inmet and their background in Turkey which gave rise to their involvement in the CTBC; the history of the CTBC and how it has evolved over the years; and finally: the lessons learned from the experience with the CTBC and what might be the business case to get involved in such an association?

It is a very good summation of the HISTORY of the CTBC, and we highly recommend that you take a moment to read it!
