As friends and allies, Canada and Turkey have expanded the depth and variety of their bilateral relationship over the years as valued political, commercial and strategic partners. Education links are being developed through a growing number of joint initiatives. More Turkish students are studying in Canada now than ever before. Bilateral trade has reached record levels over the last few years and recent mechanisms, including the Canada – Turkey Joint Economic & Trade Committee (JETCO) announced earlier this year, put an emphasis on small and medium enterprises, strategic venture initiatives, and technical and scientific cooperation.
Within this larger binational context of cooperation the University of Toronto, with support from the Canada Turkey Business Council (CTBC) and others, is coordinating a Research and Trade Worship to identify and review ongoing collaborations between the University and Turkey in the areas of nanotechnology, tectontics and resources, and archaeology and archeometry. The Workshop will also include a panel session that will outline opportunities for collaborations in S&T, research & education under the JETCO.
